Design Research: Catering St. Louis

Current website

Mission:

"Simply put, we're in the business of making people happy."

Catering St Louis Events is a full service catering and events company specializing in great venues for every type of celebration, ranging from small private affairs to elaborate public productions.

Audience:

People hosting weddings, private events, and corporate events.

Current successes:

The site isn't really doing much very well at this point in terms of visual design. It was designed in 2003, and looks clearly outdated. However, there is a lot of information provided throughout the site and the navigation bar functions at a basic level.

Flavor 360
I like the way they put their “mission statement” on the home page with three descriptive words below it detailing their services. It’s brief, clean, and clear.

Marna's Catering
The large photo slides on the home page are effective in setting the mood and showing quality. I also like how two testimonials are shown on the bottom of the first page.

Whoa Nelly Catering
I like the way the featured events are shown on the home page – I can see this being done for Catering St. Louis’ featured event sites.

Visual inspiration:

Das Bevo Brewery
I like the two elements on the bottom of the home page that come above the footer. There is a panel with one testimony and a CTA to their instagram, and below there is another panel with their contact info and a form to fill out.

Bowery Farming
Visually, I like the cleanliness and simplicity of the home page.

Et Hus Farming
The large photos work beautifully because they take up the whole page. The barely noticeable dark gradient at the top makes the white text of the logo and nav bar visible with any photo.
